THE Allen Valleys and King’s Head Leek Club show attracted a grand total of 370 entries in its ninth year.

Leek winner Doug Murray collected the Ellan Ashman Memorial Trophy for his pair of leeks measuring an impressive 175.27 cu ins.

Doug also collected the trophies for the most improved leek grower and the best entry in the open section with his stand of onions.

Meanwhile, John Short took home the trophies for the best truss of tomatoes and the best six tomatoes.

In the open flower section, the trophies for the most points and the best dahlia exhibit went to David Thirlwell. Robin Rutter took home the trophy for the most points in the vegetable section.

The evening was brought to a close with the presentation of trophies by the landlady of the King’s Head, Sarah Stevenson, before the produce was auctioned off by Andrew Graham.
