A MEDICAL practice is celebrating after it was rated as “good” across the board following a recent inspection.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) awarded Ponteland Medical Group the second highest rating, following a period of sustained improvement.

It follows on from an inspection in 2017, where the service was deemed to require improvement.

In 2018, a further inspection also found a number of areas to improve.

However, staff have acted on these results, and the most recent inspection saw the health watchdog praise the group in every category assessed.

Dr Robin Hudson, executive GP at Ponteland Medical Group, praised staff for the achievement.

Dr Hudson said: “It is hard to put into words how proud I am of everyone at the practice.

“We have a number of forward-thinking members of our team who have affected real change to how we care for our patients.

“We’ve made a number of improvements here and this result is testament to the dedication and hard work of our staff.

“The team have done a fantastic job to get this far.

“However, there is still work to be done, we have worked incredibly hard to get to where we are.

“Now we have to make sure we don’t get complacent and continue to improve.

“Having seen first-hand how committed the staff at the practice are, and with the support of our partners, I have every confidence that we can keep moving forward and achieve even more.”

Ponteland Medical Group was also praised for its results in the recent National GP Patient Survey.

The practice improved their rating in nine of the 18 quality indicators used to grade practices.
