A COFFEE shop owner tackled the Great North Run for the 17th time to raise money for a charity close to the heart of one of his customers.
Paulo Pani (56) who owns Salute Coffee Bar in St Mary’s Chare, Hexham took his first day off in three months for the run on Sunday, where he raised money for Children North East.
He found out about the work they do through regular customer Carol Taylor, who is the charity’s senior fund-raiser. He said: “It was great. It was a beautiful day and it took me two hours,12 minutes and 56 seconds. I didn’t stop – I just kept going. Every race is different but it’s the atmosphere that makes it so good.”
He has raised £150 so far and still has further donations to count up.
