A HOTLY anticipated event due to take place in Hexham has been cancelled.
The popular Continental Street Market was supposed to start on Friday, but organisers RR Events cancelled the event.
A spokeswoman for Northumberland County Council said: "Cancellation of the market was at the request of the organisers and so is beyond the council's control.
"The organisers and the council are sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment caused.
"We are liaising with the organisers and with partners in Hexham to see if a further date for the market can be arranged."
RR Events posted on Facebook to apologise for the cancellation of the event, and confirmed it is looking for a suitable date to hold the market in the future.
