WORKERS at a village pub turned the tables in a quirky idea to raise money for their local hospice.

Kitchen staff at the Boatside Inn at Warden headed out to serve customers while waiting staff took on the chef duties for the fund-raising night in aid of Tynedale Hospice at Home.

Manager Matt Cawood described the day as “chaotic fun”. He added: “There were a lot of laughs at everybody’s expense.”

Every table was full and despite some mishaps – including a chef spilling a drink all over a customer, which was taken in good spirits – the night was a success raising £479 for the charity.

“I think there’s a lot of friendly rivalry in this industry about who has the hardest job, so we thought it would be good fun,” added Matt.

“Given that this is a charity that any of us might need to call upon, I felt it deserved our support.”
