FAMILIES flocked to enjoy plenty of fun, sunshine and friendly competition at Corbridge’s annual Family Fun Day.

Corbridge Cricket Club hosted the event on Sunday, attracting visitors of all ages to the day which was also raising money for three causes.

Children enjoyed face painting, a tuck shop, children’s stalls and a bouncy castle, and mini cricket and tug of war was on offer for those attending.

There were also games and crafts, a cake stall and a tombola. Meanwhile volunteers worked hard to provide an afternoon tea spread for all to enjoy.

The atmosphere ensured crowds stayed on to enjoy the event later into the evening after the barbecue and bar opened.

Entertainment was provided by musicians John Logan, Callum Harbottle and Shaun Fenwick.

The day also saw a quoits competition take place, along with the village’s annual charity cricket match which takes place every year.

The Corbridge Cricket Club team beat the Corbridge Village team on the final ball to win the Corbridge Charity Shield.

And the Performance of the Day award went to the entire Charlotte Straker team for finishing third rather than their habitual fourth, with last year’s winners Corbridge Youth Initiative finishing last this year.

In total, the event raised more than £3,000 which will be split between the Charlotte Straker Project Community Respite Care Bed, the Corbridge Youth Initiative and Corbridge Cricket Club.
