A MAN has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a woman died in a crash on the A69. 

Viorel Grancea (31) of Darnley Street, Glasgow, has also been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and causing death while unlicensed, disqualified or uninsured, following the crash near Haydon Bridge at 6.30pm on Tuesday. 

It was reported that a blue Ford Focus estate was travelling westbound on the A69 when it was in collision with a blue Hyundai I30 travelling in the opposite direction.

A woman, who was the front seat passenger in the Ford Focus, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said inquiries were ongoing to identify the woman and inform her family.

A 21-year-old female rear seat passenger in the Ford Focus was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

And the 62-year-old driver of the Hyundai was also taken to hospital for treatment, but police said he not believed to have suffered any serious injuries.
