A MAN was taken to hospital after he was crushed by a lorry, near Otterburn, on Monday.

The C186 at Raylees was closed for three hours after the man was rescued from underneath the lorry, understood to have been stuck in the road.

A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service said the 48-year-old was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with back injuries.

Councillor for Rothbury, Steven Bridgett, said the road needed better signs to prevent large vehicles from using it.
