BEST friends were there for each other when the going got tough and heavy rainfall battered the North-East.
Linda Johnston and Laura Hall were met with torrential weather as they undertook a 100km fund-raising walk from Cresswell to Holy Island.
The friends, who live in the parish of Slaley, decided to tackle the walk to raise funds as part of the drive to generate £100,000 for the Slaley Commemoration Hall ahead of the 100th anniversary of the community building.
As a result of their grit and determination, the Slaley mothers, who have two children each, have helped push the hall’s overall funding past the £20,000 mark.
Pat Wilson, commemoration hall secretary, said: “We are very grateful for their efforts and, so far, they have raised over £2,500 for Slaley Commemoration Hall improvements.”
