A STONE seat will leave a long-lasting memory of a supporter of her local care home.
Alan and Helen Mason have donated a memorial seat in the grounds of Charlotte Straker House, in Corbridge, in memory of their mother Mary who was the last nursing sister at the home when it was an NHS hospital.
Mary, who passed away in October, fund-raised for the Charlotte Straker Project and, when it opened in 1992, she formed and chaired The Friends of Charlotte Straker group for the benefit of residents.
The stone seat was made by Ray Dryden and Peter Gunn, members of the Northumbrian branch of the Drystone Walling Association.
Marilyn Hunter, the registered manager of the Charlotte Straker Project, said: "Mary was a very special friend to us at the Charlotte Straker Project and we are delighted that we are able to commemorate her steadfast support with a beautiful stone seat."
Recently, an annual charity golf day held at Matfen Hall raised £3,800 to go towards funding the community respite care bed at Charlotte Straker House as 17 teams of four battled it out.
