Police trace sex offender who failed to appear in court
A SEX offender who failed to appear in court to be sentenced has been found by police.
Shaun Ridley (36), of Centurion Way, Heddon-on-the-Wall, pleaded guilty on July 11 to inciting a girl aged between 13 and 15 to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity, in relation to an incident on April 1, 2017.
He was due to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on Wednesday for sentencing, but he did not appear, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
After being traced by police, he appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on Thursday, August 8, where his case was adjourned until September 24.
He was released on bail.
