Last week’s public meeting on climate change, organised by Hexham Labour Party, was notable for two things:
1. Labour Party leaders praising Michael Gove as environment secretary, Northumberland Council leader Peter Jackson, and Tynedale Council’s mayor for their initiatives to reduce man-made contributions to climate change.
2. The number of organisations not formally associated with the Labour Party at the meeting discussing how best to work together to curb greenhouse gases, and slow rising temperatures that will impact on us all.
Tackling climate change goes beyond party politics, and we all need to work together to reduce the extent of global warming, and its impact on the lives of our children and grandchildren.
