THE installation of a water supply has put a spring in the step of allotment holders.

With thanks to a £2,000 grant from the village’s Northumberland county councillor Nick Oliver’s members contribution and a £1,600 contribution from Corbridge Parish Council, a water supply has been installed at the Bridge End Allotments.

Coun. Oliver said: “These allotments have been an important part of Corbridge life for many decades so it’s wonderful that they finally have running water.”

Miles Joyce, the chairman of the allotment society, said members were delighted with the new addition.

He said: “This water supply will allow our allotment holders to spend more time gardening and less time fetching water.

“We’re grateful to Nick and to parish council chairman Marc Horn and the council for the support.”
