TWO pre-school managers have become amongst the first in Northumberland to complete the new award for special educational needs co-ordinators.
Elaine Chaplin, from Belsay Daycare, and Arlene Bowes, from Henshaw Nursery, started training for the accreditation in January 2019 along with 19 other practitioners.
The Cache Level 3 Award for early years settings required the pair to take time out of their busy schedules to attend weekly training sessions as well as completing assignments to gain the qualification.
Arlene and Elaine are the only two practitioners currently in West Northumberland in private voluntary independent nursery settings who hold the qualification. An awards event was held in the council chambers at County Hall in Morpeth on completion of the award.
