BUS operator Go North East has introduced a major shake-up of its fares.
The company, which operates services in Northumberland, North Tyneside, Gateshead and South Tyneside, has introduced new travel zones and prices which it said would save passengers money.
The new yellow ‘GoZone’ will serve the Tyne Valley including Hexham, Stocksfield, Prudhoe, Wylam and Heddon-on-the-Wall.
All zone travel tickets have been reduced from £8.20 a day to £7 a day, and from £30 a week to £25 a week.
Whilst most fares are frozen or reduced, a small amount have increased, including some £1.50 and £1.60 single fares by 10p, and most return fares have been capped at the day ticket price.
There are also a number of RouteSaver tickets, for cheaper travel on specific services, including the Tyne Valley Ten 10, 10A & 10B.
The changes were introduced on Sunday, July 21.
