A SCHOOLGIRL has undergone a complete transformation by chopping off her long locks in aid of charity.
Poppy Coulthard (8), a pupil at Hexham’s Sele First School, had more than 20 inches of her hair cut off in memory of her grandmother.
Kind-hearted Poppy donated the hair to the Princess Trust which provides real hair wigs to children who lose their hair through illness, while raising more than £600 for Tynedale Hospice at Home.
During the summer holidays, Poppy would spend most of the time visiting her grandmother at a hospice in Somerset.
Seeing first-hand the good care the hospice carried out, the schoolgirl was keen to support a similar scheme in the North-East, which has a dedicated service dealing in children and family bereavement, after her grandmother died last year.
