A TEACHER at Chollerton First School has decided to call time on her career after 27 years.

Maureen Broadbent will retire from the classroom at the end of this school year, having joined in 1992.

Looking back on her career, Maureen said: “I have really enjoyed working at Chollerton First School, as a teacher, for 27 years.

“It has been so special to work alongside the children, parents, staff, governors, our local church, vicars as well as our school community.

“I have been very fortunate to have taught at Chollerton for so many years.

“I have seen so many changes in education, but the professional satisfaction in seeing children learn and develop is incredibly special.

“My hope for the future is that special educational needs will be properly funded. I know this hope is shared by parents and by my many teaching colleagues.”
