THIS week will see a celebration of local art in Prudhoe, with the launch of the town's very first art trail.

Prudhoe Art trail will run from Monday, July 13 to Saturday, July 20 and is being organised by Prudhoe Community Partnership, based at Spetchells Centre, and managed in partnership with Paul Stangroom Fine Art.

Twenty five local artists will be taking part with each one displaying their work in one of the shops or cafes along Prudhoe’s Front Street.

There will be special evening events with participating artists as well as a daily guided walk led by one of the artists.

The walks will take place on Monday, July 15 at 2.30pm and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 10.30am, starting outside the Spetchells Centre.

Renowned Tower Artist Matthew Ellwood will be hosting an artist’s event at Ginevra Espresso Bar on Wednesday to discuss his art and glass, and artist Rena Holford will be talking about how she makes glass work at Elizabeth Evans Optician on Friday.

And a range of workshops, walks and talks will be taking place throughout in the town, including at schools and sheltered housing.

A trail guide can be picked up at any of the shops along Front Street.
