A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital following a crash on the A69.

Emergency services were called out to a crash between a car and a lorry at Bardon Mill, near the Henshaw Garage, at around 2.15pm on Tuesday. 

Two people were taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. One woman was airlifted to hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries, while another patient was taken by ambulance. 

Police said the road was closed in both directions but was fully reopened by 1am on Wednesday. 

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident.

“Anyone with any information that could assist officers with enquiries, or has dashcam footage of the collision, is asked to contact police via 101 using reference number 506 09/07/19.”
