THE Met Office has issued a weather warning with the Tyne Valley set to be battered by thunderstorms.
The yellow warning is in place from 12pm to 9pm on Thursday. The affected area stretches from the north of Scotland to the Midlands.
The weather service warns that heavy showers and thunderstorms may cause travel disruption and flooding.
According to the forecast, there is a small chance that flooding could cause danger to life and damage homes and businesses.
Road and rail services could also be impacted by flooding and lightning strikes, with 50mm of rain forecasted in just three hours.
