FROM world class DJs to tribute acts endorsed by the original band, there will be something for everyone at a new music festival for Northumberland.

The inaugural Scoop Music Festival, to be held between Friday and Sunday at Wheelbirks ice cream parlour near Stocksfield, has attracted DJs Dave Pearce, Brandon Block and Jon DaSilva, names known across the globe.

Away from the DJ tent, a number of bands in tribute to well-known artists will perform across the three days including Stipe, a REM tribute band which iconic frontman Michael Stipe himself endorsed as ‘awesome.’

Joining Stipe on the main stage will be Beyond Madness (Madness), Ha’way Sis (Oasis), Riff Raff (AC/DC) and The Rigid Digits (Stiff Little Fingers).

In addition, there will be another live music tent to offer people the choice of music to listen to, with a tent specialising in reggae also planned.

It’s not just music that will drive the crowds in as there is plenty of entertainment scheduled too.

There will be various children’s entertainment, a fun fair, yoga, arts and craft workshops, a ukulele workshop, plenty of food stalls and a separate camping area for families.

Tris Raine, from organisers Events 85, said: “We want this to be the biggest, family music festival in Northumberland.

“We want to grow it year by year and involve the local community as much as possible.

“Working with an established working farm, we aim to build a great relationship and grow the festival into something that local people will respect.

“We have set our standards high with the line-up this year because we want to compete with other festivals around here.”
