SCHOOL pupils have shown their creative side while doing their bit to save the planet.

The theme of the bi-annual arts week at St Joseph’s Middle School, in Hexham, was ‘recycling and reusing’, with all getting in the spirit during the numerous workshops held during the week.

As part of the project, children made a mural from recycled exercise books, learned about local water vole populations and joined in with dance sessions inspired by fish!

Kate Seddon, the school’s executive deputy headteacher, said: “The children had fun outside of lessons with a big push on protecting their environment and their stewardship of the planet and how to look after it for future generations.

“It was amazing to see how well they took the messages on board, and the week was such a big success.”
