A COMMUNITY event has been hailed as the most successful in its 50-year history.
More visitors than ever visited Alston Gala at the weekend to take in the range of activities planned in the town.
Entries were up across the board with record numbers in the parade of floats, fancy dress competition, equine show, fun dog show and vintage sections.
As has become tradition, BBC Look North presenter Colin Briggs was on hand to judge the floats and vintage vehicles.
Show chairman Raymond Miller said: “It was the best turn-out we have had since the gala started around 30 years ago. There were more visitors and entries than ever before.
“It was an absolutely brilliant day, and great family entertainment was put on for everybody in the community and those visiting.”
