The future of Hexham's M&S store remains uncertain.
This follows reports that the store will stop selling clothing and will focus on selling food, with the addition of an extended cafe.
A letter has recently appeared in the store’s window, detailing a licence granted to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises.
M&S said it has no plans to begin selling alcohol in the cafe, but has not confirmed plans for the store's future.
