A CHARITY is planning to set up a cafe to help adults with learning disabilities manage a small business.
Acomb-based Journey Enterprises aims to start a cafe in Hexham bus station through the charity’s Hexham Hub, which would provide a place for its users to get involved in business.
In addition to providing business training opportunities, a sensory garden would also be created to benefit people with eyesight problems.
The charity has three hubs; Hexham, Coundon in County Durham and Wallsend; with all activity centres offering an array of activities, including baking, dance and drama.
To help with its goal, Journey Enterprise received a cheque for £500 from Hexham Rotary Club.
A spokesman for the Rotary club said: “Each hub provides an extensive independent living skills programme which is tailored to meet individual needs, such as healthy living, cooking, travel training, relationships and employment.
“Hexham Rotary Club is proud to be able to help this excellent charity.”
