Penrith and the Border MP Rory Stewart is set to face tough questions on climate change.
Former Conservative leadership hopeful Mr Stewart is on a panel of politicians and activists who will face questions on the environment submitted by under 18s.
The MP, whose constituency includes Alston, will be joined by two fellow MPs in Labour’s Sue Hayman and former Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron.
Also on the panel are Green Party councillor Helen Davidson, community climate activist and member of Extinction Rebellion Henry Goodwin, as well as carbon reduction expert and author Mike Berners-Lee.
All questions will be submitted in advance by under-18s.
They will be put to the panel by a team of young people. The audience will be made up of both the general public and school groups.
The event is being held in response to a climate summit for schools in April.
Young people asked for the opportunity to share their views and questions with people in power.
Cumbria Action for Sustainability responded by organising the ‘Question Time’ event, which coincides with its 20th anniversary celebrations.
Under-18s from Cumbria, including Alston, can email their question to office@cafs.org.uk The event will be held on Friday, July 5 at Penrith Leisure Centre from 1pm.
