A NEW business is providing a platform for young people to become more imaginative.

My Little Place role play centre, aimed at children up to the age of seven, has proved a big hit since it opened in the former Northumberland College building on St Mary’s Wynd, in Hexham, a month ago.

The centre is split into various rooms – a hairdressing salon, a house, a doctor’s surgery, police and fire stations, a cafe, a supermarket and a builders’ yard – and encourages children to dress up and play with suitable props.

It is the first of its kind in Tynedale, and has been going down a storm with children and parents alike.

Manager Suzanne Keen said: “It’s going really well and it was absolutely packed during half term.

“We are getting fantastic reviews and all the children love it and never want to leave.

“They are really loving the dressing up side to it and parents are saying they are so glad Hexham now has something like this.

“The parents feel it is great that they can come and relax with a cup of coffee while their children play safely.”

My Little Place is currently running a competition with customers, asking them to suggest what type of room the one vacant space could be transformed in to.

The person who suggests the best idea will win free vouchers as part of their prize.
