A NORTH TYNE pub is enjoying a new lease of life under new ownership.
The Holly Bush Inn, at Greenhaugh, was taken over by John and Lynne Thompson six weeks ago.
The venture is a complete career change for the couple who moved to the district a year ago.
“I have some experience working behind a bar but nothing close to owning a place like this,” John said.
The pub has long been a popular stop-off point for motorists making the journey to and from Scotland.
John added: “We don’t want to change it vastly because it’s a 300-year-old pub.
“The real ale scene has been a big part of our ideas and ambitions to keep it local. We’re also keen to create positive connections with other local businesses.”
The pub is open to suggestions from visitors for new drinks, and is also hoping to host traditional live music.
