MEMBERS of a rural community will lead visitors on a picturesque trail.

A total of 16 families will welcome people into Whitley Chapel as part of Sunday’s Hexhamshire Garden Trail, brought back by popular demand.

People can pay an entrance fee at the village’s St Helen’s Church before ticking off the gardens on their guide map. Proceeds from the trail will go towards the upkeep of the church.

Gill Whatmough has helped organise the trail. She said: “We held this a couple of years ago and it was very successful.

“The gardens range from those 1,000ft up the valley to wildflower gardens, and even one which is going to be yarn bombed. Dipton Mill Inn will also open its garden where people will be able to quench their thirst.

“Hexhamshire is a beautiful place, whether you’re looking at a garden or not.”
