KIELDER Forest has topped the Forestry England list of family woodland bike rides as it celebrates National Bike Week.

Described as ‘perfect for families’ the Borderline 11km Cycle Trail runs along the former Border Counties railway line.

The route enables cyclists to put their skills to the test with five different ability levels from beginner to elite, starting off before Kielder Campsite via the Anglers Arms before riding along the former railway line.

Once on the Borderline, the route ends at the Scottish Border just beyond the former Deadwater railway station. A variety of hire bikes are available from the Kielder Cycle Shop including the new electric bikes.

Bridgette Hall, Forestry England’s head of recreation, said: “We’ve worked hard to offer such a large selection of trails for families, so come and experience our forest routes.”
