THE well-known sisters at a care home have said goodbye to Hexham after 30 years.
The Sisters of Mercy, based in Sunderland, have run Carntyne Residential Care Home, in Hexham, since 1990 but have recently sold up to Resolve Care, owned by Elaine Reay.
Sister Aelred said: “The sisters set up Carntyne in 1990 and we have many happy memories of the staff and residents, but with fewer sisters in the community now, we can no longer continue to be responsible for it.
“We wish all concerned a very happy future, thank the people of Hexham for their support and care over the years, and send the residents and staff every good wish.”
