THE North of Tyne Combined Authority is set to gain control of a significant chunk of the area’s adult education budget
Northumberland County Council’s cabinet approved the devolution of the £22m worth of funding from Central Government. The transfer was signed off by the combined authority last week, but needs approval from North Tyneside and Newcastle City Councils.
Council leader Peter Jackson explained that having control over the adult education budget would allow the authority to meet local needs in terms of skills and training.
