THE North-East is being warned to expect heavy rainfall throughout the week.
The Met Office has today (June 9) issued yellow weather warnings for rain across the region, warning that the heavy prolonged rainfall could lead to flooding and disruption to transport.
The warnings have been issued throughout Tuesday, June 11 and parts of Wednesday, June 12 and Thursday, June 13.
A spokesman for the Met Office said that spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions, and some roads may be forced to close.
There is also a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.
