Matfen Hall Hotel will be supporting the vital work of charity, Carers Northumberland, for the next two years.

Following a three-year partnership with Tynedale Hospice at Home, which saw around £20,000 being raised by staff, guests and members, the hotel has announced its new nominated charity until 2021.

Carers Northumberland, which was founded in 2008, aims to improve the lives of unpaid carers who provide regular, unpaid, emotional, physical and practical help to support a family member, partner or friend who has a disability, physical or mental illness, is frail or has drug or alcohol related problems.

During a presentation at Matfen Hall earlier this year, Carers Northumberland’s chief executive, Debra Blakey offered a detailed picture of the work the charity does.

Debra said: “We are looking forward to an exciting partnership with Matfen which will involve fund-raising to help the charity support unpaid family carers throughout Northumberland, as well as raising our profile to ensure more carers register and engage with us to get the information and advice that they need when they need it.”

Managing director at Matfen Hall Hotel, Bernard Bloodworth, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be able to announce our commitment to support the ongoing and invaluable work that Carers Northumberland do right across our county.”
