Keen photographers are being encouraged to submit their best pictures of the River Tyne for a calendar competition.

The Tyne Rivers Trust is launching its fourth charity calendar, and is asking anyone who enjoys the river to submit their best photos of it.

The theme is ‘My Tyne’, and images can cover anything from people enjoying the river to wildlife, as long as it’s taken within the River Tyne catchment.

A judging panel will pick the best 12 photos and the winners will receive a copy of the glossy calendar displaying their winning photo.

Hexham business Egger will be covering the production costs of the calendar and the money raised will help to fund the Trust’s river school programme, which gets children out of the classroom and into the outdoors to learn about the region’s river system and the creatures that live in it. The competition will close on July 19.
