BUSINESS leaders and representatives from Northumberland’s top tourist attractions are travelling to London to promote all the county has to offer.

The event held today at the House of Lords, organised by Northumberland County Council and hosted by Lord Curry of Kirkharle, promoted the Discover our Land campaign.

The campaign promotes Northumberland as a great place to live, work, visit and invest and the event aimed to showcase everything which the county has to offer both from a business and an investment perspective.

The council teamed up with a number of partners for the event including Northumberland National Park; Port of Blyth, the Alnwick Castle; Produced in Northumberland and Advance Northumberland, who helped to spread the message to invited guests. Guests included representatives from VisitBritain and Sport England; MP Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and Jake Berry MP, Northern Powerhouse Minister.

Coun. Peter Jackson, leader of the council, said: “We are a county that boasts international leaders in industry, investment-ready locations, welcoming communities, a rich history and proud heritage, and globally significant tourist attractions, culture and landscapes. Discover our Land is all about telling the story of Northumberland through those individuals, communities and businesses who are already reaping the benefits of being located here.

“The event at the House of Lords is an opportunity to take that message to the heart of Government so that people know what is on offer here in Northumberland.”
