A LOCAL photographic society has donated more than £1,000 to the Northumberland Wildlife Trust.

Hexham and District Photographic Society hosted a keynote speech with local international explorer, and patron of Northumberland Wildlife Trust, Conrad Dickinson as part of their annual program of talks, presentations and practical advice from members and visiting speakers.

At the event at the Forum Cinema, Hexham, last month a total of £901 was raised, which was supplemented by a donation from the society to make a total of £1051.36.

Rob Halliburton, the society’s syllabus secretary, said: “I was delighted when Conrad agreed to be our keynote speaker. His experiences during his many explorations, and his keen interest in photography offered a fascinating and entertaining night.

“He gave a fascinating talk on his Arctic exploits, especially the gruelling South Pole challenge. He also showcased his own wildlife photography.

“The society was delighted to be able to make this donation to the Northumberland Wildlife Trust. We are keen to support and promote local charities and groups, and where we can, work in partnership with local business groups.”

The society, which was founded in 1947, hosts its annual exhibition at Hexham Abbey from Saturday, August 10 to Sunday, August 18.
