A HOMECOMING show will be the highlight of a busy season for a talented young dancer who is living up to her name.

Daisy Dancer (18), a sixth form student at Hexham’s Queen Elizabeth High School, will star in the National Youth Dance Company’s production of Madhead at Newcastle’s Dance City next month.

Daisy, who lives in the town, has been part of the company which brings together talented young dancers from across the country for a second year now, and will be on stage in Newcastle twice on June 29, at 2pm and 7.30pm.

The performances in the North-East are part of a national tour which will see the company also dance in Ipswich, Plymouth, Essex, Brighton, Birmingham and Sadler’s Wells.

Daisy, who also participates in the Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) Programme at Dance City where she studies contemporary dance and ballet, said: “ I really enjoy the experience of performing with the National Youth Dance Company on its national tour, and being with all of these talented dancers back at Dance City will just be incredible. I’m really looking forward to it.

“Spending two years with the company, on top of my CAT training at Dance City, has really helped me to improve my confidence inside and outside of the studio, and I feel very grateful to be part of something so exciting and new in the world of dance.

“I am really looking forward to seeing how my own style and technique can develop over the next few years at the London Contemporary Dance School.”

The CAT programme offers dance training at all levels, from children aged 10 to postgraduate level.
