THE work carried out in a Hexham physiotherapy clinic will be showcased on an international scale.

Paul Hobrough has become the first Brit to be signed up to the prestigious International Society for Medical Shockwave Treatments conference in Beijing, in China, later this month.

Paul, who runs Physio & Therapy UK in Hexham, has recently returned from a stage appearance as the official physio for the Virgin Money London Marathon, and he will share his expertise in the latest trend of shockwave to a global audience.

He said: "Being noticed as the UK’s shockwave specialist by this group is both humbling and proof that hard work and determination pays off.

“In this country, we’ve pushed the boundaries to provide the latest and greatest in technology and treatments and now I’ll be helping others across the world too.

"Having moved back home to the North-East from London seven years ago, it is a dream come true to have still been selected as the UK representative and it feels like it really puts the North-East on the map in terms of therapeutic best practice.”

Following his stint at Beijing, Paul will fly to South Africa to teach the use of shockwave therapy to a host of medical professionals.
