A FLOURISHING Cumbrian business is celebrating 25 years of providing innovative products and top-notch customer service

Business continues to boom for SBS Cumbria, which opened in 1994 with a single store in Kendal, supplying high-quality building materials to the construction trade, initially specialising in uPVC windows. Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength, forging a strong reputation among both trade customers, and homeowners.

Now the firm employs more than 50 members of staff, with seven more stores in Barrow, Carlisle, Dumfries, Galashiels, Hexham, Stranraer, and Workington, selling directly to the public, and three of its own factories.

Director, John Charlton, said: “We try to always keep evolving as a business, and we’re always growing to meet our customers’ needs.

“We’ve been able to adapt to rapidly changing markets over the years, and managed to seize emerging opportunities. That, along with our beloved loyal customers, is the reason we’re still here after 25 years.”

The firm’s expertise has continued to grow since its early days, and SBS Cumbria now offers a wide variety of uPVC products, including doors, windows, roof lanterns, cladding, soffits, facias, and rainwater goods.

John added: “uPVC items continue to be the core of our business, but thanks to home makeover shows, like Channel 4’s Grand Designs, we’re seeing growing demand for aluminium ‘WarmCore’ doors and windows.

“The demand is so high that one of our factories is dedicated to manufacturing them exclusively. They have a stylish, contemporary look, plus their unique design keeps the warmth inside your house, which means lower heating bills and a greener world!”

The firm plans to mark their 25 years in business with an open day at the Kendal showroom.

John closes by saying: “We’d like to thank our customers for a fantastic quarter century. We’re definitely not done yet; we’re already taking on more staff at the factories to meet demand, and we hope to open more branches around the UK in the near future.

“We’re looking forward to whatever that future might bring.”
