PONTELAND Community Partnership is celebrating the completion of a number of projects to improve a bridleway in the town.

The partnership installed five step counts on educational pedestals along the route starting from Callerton Lane to the airport with the help of the community.

Previous projects include reinstating part of the old railway path and tree planting.

The partnership’s chairwoman, Alma Dunigan, said: “The counted steps idea has taken four years to complete and has been organised by the partnership with the support of the Community Foundation’s Out & About fund, which aims to encourage residents to improve their general wellbeing.”

Hexham’s MP, Guy Opperman, said: “It’s always encouraging to see positive action taken by local communities to help people improve their quality of life, and at the same time bringing people together.”
