A NEW cultural fund for event organisers worth £100,000 is now accepting applications.
The Northumberland Cultural Fund went live on Wednesday, May 1 after it was approved by Northumberland County Council.
The fund will support event organisers in the delivery of new events taking place in the summer.
It follows on from last year’s Great Northumberland summer programme, and will allow organisations and individuals to create a packed calender of events for 2019.
Nigel Walsh, head of cultural services at the council said: “We value the enormous contribution that arts and community groups make to the vibrancy of our summer offer to local people and visitors across Northumberland.
“We hope this exciting and new fund will help local people deliver their events and be part of a countywide programme as part of Great Northumberland 2019.”
The council anticipate that the fund will be used for small projects to create a programme of countywide activities.
It is not intended to fund large-scale events.
Applications can be made for events of any type, but it cannot be used to fully fund the event.
Forms and guidance on submissions are available to download at www.greatnorthumberland.co.uk/fund. The deadline for any submissions is Monday, May 13 at 5pm.
