A CHARITY disco with an Eighties theme has raised more than £1,000 for charity.
The event at Haltwhistle Working Men’s Club was organised by resident and regular fund-raiser Kathryn McDonald.
Kathryn has raised money for several charities over the years in a variety of different ways, but this time she donated the £1,023.63 to Tynedale Hospice at Home.
The hospice played a role in the care of both her mum and sister, who both battled breast cancer.
Kathryn said: “I’ve done a fund-raiser every year since I lost my mum to breast cancer ten years ago.
“My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer too, but she’s made a full recovery.
“My mum used the hospice when she had breast cancer, and recently my sister had radiotherapy and the hospice took her to Newcastle.
“The charity is such a big help and their drivers were lovely.
“The night was really good, it was a busy night all round Haltwhistle, it had been a warm day so lots of people were out.”
The disco also featured a raffle, with various prizes donated from across the community.
Kathryn added: “The first prize was an Eighties-themed hamper. We got donations from Tesco, Sainsburys – we had about 20 prizes in all from local businesses.”
