AN area of Tyne Green has been cordoned off after a suspected artillery shell was discovered by a member of the public.
Police received the report at 2.50pm after the item was found on the banks of the River Tyne at Tyne Green, Hexham.
The area around Hexham Rowing Club and Queen Elizabeth High School Rowing Club, down to the River Tyne, has been cordoned off by police.
It is understood a bomb disposal team are heading to the scene from Catterick.
