AN Olympic athlete inspired young runners in Prudhoe during a visit to the town.
English middle-distance runner Laura Weightman visited Prudhoe on April 18 where she ran a exclusive training session for Prudhoe Plodders, before staying to hold a public talk at the Fuse media centre.
The 50 runners from Prudhoe Plodders, which included 20 junior athletes, took part in a group warm-up jog with Laura before she went through her detailed warm up exercises. They then performed a range of different speed drills before she ended the session by showing the group her European medal.
John Page of the Movie Prop Warehouse, which organised the event, said: “The evening talk was so inspiring. Laura is such a down to earth, relatable athlete. She talked through her career and journey to the Olympic final through winning her various medals.”
