PEOPLE fighting back from addiction have been reintroduced into a working environment.
The Hexham branch of national charity Betel House has opened 1940s-themed Rising Cafe: From the Rubble, on the town’s Beaumont Street, with the staff made up of men and women battling back to normal life from drug and alcohol addiction.
The cafe is an extension to the charity’s Restored furniture making store in Hexham town centre.
Betel House Hexham director Brenda Cox said: “There has been a great response from the community, and we have had good feedback about the cafe.
“We expected it to be busy and popular, but it’s proven even better than what we were anticipating.”
