IT’S not just chocolate eggs that have been causing excitement this Easter.
Just two weeks after the Kielder ospreys returned to the district, pair YA and Mrs YA produced their egg on Sunday, April 14.
The birds were reintroduced to Kielder more than 10 years ago, and breeding pairs have nested in the area since 2009, between the months of March and September.
The timing meant that it perfectly coincided with the launch of Kielder’s osprey watch this weekend.
The watch runs every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday behind the Boat Inn at Kielder.
In addition, visitors to Kielder Castle’s cafe can now watch a live feed of the osprey nest, thanks to Forestry England’s work before the birds returned.
Other nests have also had cameras installed, with footage uploaded to the internet.
