THIS weekend sees the return of one of the district’s best-loved beer festivals.

Ponteland Beer Festival, now in its sixth year, takes place from Friday until Sunday.

The event, which saw 3,000 people attend last year, is organised by Ponteland Rugby Club, and will be held on the rugby pitch at the leisure centre on Callerton Lane.

Beer connoisseurs will be spoilt for choice, with more than 150 beers, lagers, and ciders on offer – but if beers not your thing, then there will also be a gin bar offering a wide range of different gins and mixers, as well as a wine and prosecco bar.

Revellers will have the opportunity to satisfy their hunger as well as their thirst, with Angel Street Food providing everything from kebabs and pizza to paella and smoked beef brisket.

And there’ll be no shortage of entertainment throughout the weekend, with The Baghdaddies, The Heavenly Thrillbillies, Duke Street, Livewire and Hip Hop Hooray all lined up to perform.

There will also be rugby to watch on Saturday, while Sunday will see a fun fair and attractions for all the family, as well as music from the Ponteland Community Band, Ponteland Rock Choir, and the Pretty Weeds.
