A MECHANIC took payment for work he had not carried out, a court heard.

David Walker (59), of King John’s Court, Darras Hall, appeared at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Friday where he pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation.

The charge related to an incident on January 17 last year when Walker said he would supply and fit brake pads for a customer at a cost of £110. However, that work was never carried out.

Walker appeared before Newcastle magistrates last month where he was accused of eight charges relating to incidents in January and June last year. All but one of the charges were withdrawn.Walker was ordered to pay £350 costs, an £80 fine, and a £30 victim surcharge. He must also pay £110 to the victim.
