RESIDENTS of Alston are being called upon to help create a outdoor space for the town’s school children.
Alston pre-school’s manager, Sophie Hayton-Lee, and the primary school’s reception teacher Sally Hill, will both be undertaking forest school training later this year.
To put their new skills to good use, Sophie put out an appeal online for materials that would enable her to make the most of the school’s outdoor space.
Sophie says the response has been good so far.
She said: “There’s an outside space that’s not currently being used, so we’re looking at improving that and brining more natural things in.
“We spend a lot of time outside anyway. It’s just making the most of that space. We’re looking for things like planters, bird houses, little tools for kids. We’ve had quite a big response. A lot of people have come forward. It’s been overwhelming.”
